  • This is a comparative study of past and present leadership in politics and in the Methodist Church in Singapore. Through content analysis of source documents leadership patterns were identified in successive historical periods. Team leadership was found to be most relevant in contemporary, cosmopolitan Singapore. It is both adaptable to Asian values and responsive to socio-economic factors affecting both the society and the Church. Important for Methodists are team leadership models identified in the leadership of Jesus, Paul, and that of John Wesley, the founder of Methodism.
