Abstract
  • This project sought to lead rural church parishioners to develop a greater appreciation toward preaching which contains an intentional element of biblical teaching. After examining the contextualization of preaching and teaching from biblical and historical perspectives, the project presented the nature and principles of contextualizing preaching in reference to three sermon styles (expository, topical, and narrative). Two messages of each sermons style were preached between a pre-test and post-test questionnaire. Sermon evaluation forms were also used with six sermon evaluation committees. While more people still favored 'topical' messages, the research disclosed a preference for sermons with strong teaching content.
