- It is my thesis that there are members of many churches that have become inactive and shut-in, due to health or age reasons and many of them feel forgotten. Visitation teams were trained to visit in the homes of the shut-in members of two churches in Central Pennsylvania. These teams visited twelve members and took the Sacrament of Holy Communion to the people. The results of our work revealed the 90% of the absent members were delighted to be visited, by the Lay Visitation Teams and to receive Communion. It is our conclusion that well trained Lay Members can visit shut-in members and bring hope and joy to them.
