  • This project seeks first to define a leadership model from sociological and biblical perspectives. It then looks at leadership identification and development. specifically within the International Ministries (IM) structure. The research element of the project consists of interviews with thirteen mission leaders, seeking to determine if there is agreement on what a leader is and what his qualities and characteristics should be. The interview also seeks to understand how potential missionary leaders are identified and then developed for future positions on the mission fields. Various conclusions are drawn from the results of the interviews and both general and particular recommendations are suggested for further study or action on IM's part. These include the need to make leadership identification and development a major element in the future development of the Christian and Missionary Alliance (CM) missions program; the need to have a mission-wide study to agree upon and understand the key elements that constitute leadership; a reevaluation of the regional director's role and function with more emphasis placed on his role in developing field leaders.
