Abstract
  • Dreamwork presents a vital way of bringing a spiritual dimension into pastoral psychotherapy and offering direct religious experience in the church. The dream's significance as an avenue of revelation and guidance in biblical history is demonstrated. Freud and Jung's rediscovery of dreams' meaningfulness and their respective dream theories are discussed. Methods of dream interpretation in the therapeutic process are presented. Types of dreams are categorized and illustrated. A profile based on a survey and interviews of one congregation's attitudes are presented. Finally, a model is proposed for introducing dreamwork into the life of a local church.
