Abstract
  • This thesis is based upon the understanding of preaching that has been termed both transformational and pastoral. What is explored is the theory that the more deeply preachers draw from their own personal involvement in the preaching experience, the more deeply are hearers touched, and the more deeply transformed. The project compared preachers statements and congregational responses to twenty-one sermons to determine whether there is a correlation between the depth of preaching for the preacher and the congregation. A strong correlation was found. Much insight is offered with regard to 'preaching from deep to deep'.
