  • The purpose of this project was to discover the effect that directed self-care had upon the resiliency of a group of Navy chaplains who served at Ground Zero in New York City. A questionnaire distributed to these chaplains recorded the effectiveness of the self-care program upon their emotional, behavioral, and spiritual resiliency. The project revealed that the self-care program had a positive effect on their behavior and emotional resiliency, and some impact on their spiritual resiliency. Most understood the need for a self-care program, but were not effectively practicing one at the time of the attacks.
