This project describes and defines factors which shape, disrupt and heal the local congregation. The model involves the pastor and a lay team in two sessions to identify the narrative of the church's story. A survey solicits information and stories from a cross-section of the church membership. The project showed positive results in that teams from four congregations participated and indicated that they did enjoy, relish and learn from the congregation's stories of life and faith and were helped to discover a number of factors which form a congregation's identity. This document is part of a larger design in which the district superintendent is the bonding agent for denominational vitalization.
