- Abstract
- Central to this project was: the understanding of the diocesan priesthood in Roman Catholic teaching that should be reflected in a field education program in a Roman Catholic seminary. It seemed valuable to design a study which would express the Church's understanding of diocesan priesthood in the teaching of Vatican Council II, and to examine the way in which this was addressed in the policies of St John's field education department and in some representative sites. The learnings from the methodology of theological reflection indicate: the need for a common understanding of theological reflection and a level of theological reflection consonant with the desired outcome; the need for a common and a specific goal in theological reflection; the need for a common methodology of theological reflection.
