  • The majority of young people from evangelical churches are biblically illiterate because few are systematically taught Bible doctrine partially due to unavailability of curricula. Research includes brief historical overviews of: catechistical methodology from Mesopotamia to present, printed catechisms and educational theory from the sixteenth century, early adolescent learning and memorization theory. Market research indicated no availability of curricula containing all six important educational elements: question, answer, supporting Scripture verse, Scripture reference, verbal explanation and/or illustration, visual illustration. A two-year curriculum was developed and testing in three classes was positive.
