  • Sexism is pervasive in society and is manifested in the church--in its extreme form, as violence toward women. As women enter ministry in large numbers, they find the same sexism and even violence toward women in the church itself. This project proposes that it is almost impossible for a woman to attempt to change a hierarchical power structure, provides demonstrating case studies, and draws necessary implications. The project asks, 'Can a hierarchical power structure be changed to a shared power structure in one local congregation?' Research returned a negative answer.
