  • This project examines the design and implementation of a holistic youth program that has the potential of providing the church with a more effective ministry that meets the needs of the entire congregation. Ch. 1. Introduces Mount Olive Baptist Church and its surrounding community. The demographics of the community and the church show that the congregation places its focus on the development of its youth and believes in the value of education. Ch. 2 addresses the biblical and theological issues surrounding youth. Ch.3 sets forth a paradigm for understanding the growth and development of youth. Ch. 4 Explains the process used in implementing the project. The pre and post seminar questionnaires and the focus group were the tools used to evaluate the effectiveness of the seminar. The final chapter of the project focuses on analysis and evaluation. This work contends that effective youth ministry must be done from a holistic perspective. A holistic youth program seeks to engage the young person at every level of their being--spiritually, socially, academically, psychologically, and physically. This this cause, strong emphasis is given as to how future projects in youth ministry in rural communities can be implemented.
