Abstract

The purpose of this project was to equip the homebound ministry team members of New Hope Baptist Church, Foxworth, Mississippi, to minister to the homebound. To gain an understanding of the homebound, the project director researched and analyzed current methods of ministry to the homebound. Educational and homebound ministry professionals reviewed materials utilizing the development of the workshop sessions. The project director referenced the latest texts to explore methods and trends in caring for the homebound. In this project the project director explored the areas of visitation guidelines, effective communication, spiritual aspects, and maintenance of ties to the local church. The project enabled team members to locate and minister effectively to the homebound. Opportunities for role-playing gave team members enhanced ministry skills. The project methodology included PowerPoint presentations, role-plays, lectures, small group discussions, and handouts. The workshop included five fifty-minute sessions and one ninety-minute session.
