- This Critical Participatory Action Research (CPAR) project explores group spiritual direction as a catalyst for clergy to process the traumas and triumphs of the COVID-19 era and its aftermath. Through story sharing, holy listening, and Lectio and Visio Divina, this group setting allows clergy to deepen self-compassion. The project contends that these contemplative practices foster self-compassion as a lifelong discipline. Furthermore, it identifies systemic barriers within the Reformed tradition, specifically the drive toward over-productivity rooted in White supremacy and capitalistic ideology, that hinder clergy from fully embodying the Imago Dei and modeling wholeness in their daily lives.
