  • A challenge in cross-cultural leadership development is affirming cultural, ethnic and indigenous identity while simultaneously challenging ethnocentricity. This examination affirms biblical teaching which simultaneously endorses cultural particularity while affirming the universality of humanity under God. This universality is based on creation, God's redemptive plan for all nations, Jesus' death on the cross, the establishment of the church, and the eschatological vision of the multi-cultural assembly in Revelation 5:9 and 7:9. Implementing this unity-in-diversity includes identifying sinful tendencies to find our identity at the expense of others, caring for the 'outsiders,' participating in God's redemptive plan, working towards reconciliation, and taking initiative to live out the 'new humanity' described in Ephesians 2:11-22.
