Abstrait

Drawing from liberation theology, this project proposes that social justice ministry is not optional for a church of Jesus Christ. A random survey of 181 United Church of Christ congregations demonstrates that, despite God's requirement 'to do justice,' social justice ministries are a low priority in the church. Pastoral leadership and commitment to social justice will influence the level of congregational social justice activity. Social justice ministries, in turn, demonstrate a positive influence on church life.
