- If young blacks are exposed to their cultural heritage in the Caribbean, especially as it impinges on their religious development, there would be significant growth in the awareness of themselves as persons and their relation, as inherited from their forbears, to God. A group of young adults was brought together to model this reclaiming. This was done through reading articles, watching movies, and especially through sharing the lives and stories of ordinary Barbadian folk. The youth reported a tremendous awakening of themselves as spirtual beings. There was a greater sense of self-worth, especially relating from their inheritance as blacks. The youth themselves indicated the need to continue the process and help blacks in general lift themselves up before God.
