  • Abstract: The purpose of this project was to explore and develop a new or alternative approach to Anglican worship at St. Giles Anglican Church in Barrie Ontario. By eliminating the use of printed words that are either read silently or aloud, and replacing them with biblical storytelling and the use of digital media, the phenomenology of 'transmediatization' was explored as a means in which to deepen the meaning of the worship experience for members of St. Giles Anglican Church, and to consider its validity toward Anglican liturgical renewal in our present post-literate digital culture. The results show that when Anglican worship includes Scripture by Heart and the use of audiovisual technology, people experience worship as being more meaningful. The author researched what impact it would have for a small Anglican community to change its media culture from print, literate, to oral and digital.
