- It has become common to separate and divide life into various compartments, such as religious and secular, private and public, work and home. There is a need to hold these various component parts together instead of choosing one or the other as real or ultimate. The holding together of these different spheres can be accomplished within a tension. The development of a construct, diagram, or visual interpretation of this process presents an opportunity to explore the symbols of our church and the traditional Christian approaches to life's issues. The process of exploration is far more important than the finished construct, for the construct is only a tool to enable and enhance theological reflection and formation within a parish. This project-thesis follows the history and development of one construct with reference to historical and possible future approaches to the tendency to divide our world into managable segments and lose sight of the unity of all of God's creation.
