The purpose of the project was to plan, implement and evaluate the use of psychodrama in a conservative church. J L Moreno's psychodrama format was utilized with a group of seven couples in a marriage enrichment context extending over two years. Terry S Smith, counselor/minister, Mrs Billie Verkler, educator/psychodramatist, Dr Bill Verkler, sociologist/social psychologist, and the participants assessed the program as having a profound impact on psychological and spiritual growth of the participants. The case studies indicate many rich transformational experiences for the conservative church members. Special attention needs to be given to developing support and facilitating communication with church leaders for such a program.
