  • The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's understanding of Lutheranism and Matthew Fox's Creation Spirituality have significant theological differences. The major areas of concern for Lutherans are: Fox's semi-Pelagianism, his rejection of the traditional understanding of original sin, and the Christology of Creation Spirituality. These differences cannot be reconciled, but by approaching Creation Spirituality as an aspect of sanctification, much of its teaching can be incorporated into a Lutheran theology. The result of this integration is a Lutheran Creation Spirituality. This spirituality maintains the traditional Lutheran understanding of the faith while incorporating into it the insights offered by Creation Spirituality.
