- This project bridges practice and theory by reflecting on the life of this Franciscan congregation (1849-1883 and 1962-1974). The project analyzes what it means for FSPAs to be human and spiritual according to six critical concepts of Karl Rahner's theological anthropology, developing criteria to identify the real FSPA founder and founding charism. Based on studies of church documents, Jansenism, and cultural influences that gave rise to perpetual adoration, the project argues that post-Vatican II emphasis on eucharist as liturgical action contributes to a larger understanding of the FSPA charism.
