Abstrait

The purpose of the project was the improvement of worship in the First Baptist Church of Silver City, New Mexico. By involving members in a prescribed pedagogical program the project sought to achieve three objectives: 1. an increased theological understanding of Christian worship; 2. an increased awareness of and participation in the worship service; and 3. an increased awareness of children's worship. Two groups were enlisted. A test group was involved in five pedagogical sessions; a control group was not. A worship questionnaire was developed to show comparative scores before and after the pedagogical program. Allport, Vernon, and Lindzey's 'Study of Values' was used to determine the effects of the project on personal values. Both instruments indicated that the project's objectives were attained. Test results were positive in every instance except one: the enhancement of children's worship was not clear.
