- Effective preaching is a major factor in determining where baby boomers go to church. This project seeks to discover approaches to mainline denominational preaching that effectively communicate to the baby boom generation. The commentary of four mainline pastors who are preaching to growing numbers of baby boomers in their congregations suggests that preaching which most effectively communicates to baby boomers is biblical (including characters and doctrines in contemporary terms), personal (emphasizing how the story of the gospel can be seen as the story of our lives), and practical (offering a 'how to,' life-oriented focus).
