  • The church is an assembly of believers who should be responsible to Jesus' commandment. But we have understood Jesus' commandment as non-physical and spiritual. Such misunderstanding produced unbalanced church programs in mission. Evangelism in foreign countries was understood as mission and internal mission to the poor was neglected by the church because it was regarded as social program. In the Korean Tampa congregation, an attempt is made to develop the church's mission with poor people. We appear to be happy and joyful within the boundaries of the church, and we close our eyes to what is outside of the boundaries. A hot meal service program for hungry people has been created. It is not for church growth, but for the poor people because Jesus commanded us to feed the hungry. We need to have mission through our hands and bodies. Such activities will bring God's kingdom in the world more fully.
