Abstrait

This thesis presents one form of pastoral care that has emerged from the author's participation in a collaborative process in the development of community based spiritual care. The thesis sets forth a description of the current context of pastoral care (Introduction). It then explores the background out of which this form emerged (Chapter 1). Chapter 2 details the essential elements of Community Based Spiritual Care. It cites situations and skills one needs for such care and suggests educational models for teaching its practice. The chapter ends with several brief summaries of emerging and developing programs of Community Based Spiritual Care. Chapter 3 consists of a theological reflection and evaluation and presents the Old Testament prophet Jeremiah as a paradigm for ministry in the twenty first century.
