Abstrait

The effective nurture of Christian faith through parenting requires both theological and psycholigical understanding, knowledge of what one believes, and knowledge of how one comes to believe what is theologically sound. The project was designed to teach parents some basic principles of Christian nurture, from a Wesleyan, theological perspective, informed by developmental theory. The child-rearing motifs of John Wesley were taught within the structural-developmental framework of James W Fowler's faith development theory, to inform parents of some of the theological and psychological factors necessary for a more informed nurture of Christian faith in their children. The project was carried out through a series of seminars conducted at the First Church of the Nazarene in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Seminars consisted of lecture, written exercises and group discussions.
