Abstrait

For Lutherans, evangelism is a task of the congregation and involves bringing people into an encounter with Jesus Christ. This project tests a model for evangelism which emphasizes invitation, encounter with Christ, and involvement in the life and mission of the church. Tested in a congregation for several years, the model proves a valuable tool for envisioning the task and for evaluating congregational effectiveness. Evangelism is found to be a difficult task involving every aspect of congregational ministry. Such an evaluation, and changes it may call for, may be threatening and involve taking risks. A manual for evangelism is included.
