- Given that poor group participation is a learned response, the question arises: is leadership style a contributing factor to the lack of participation on the part of a large percentage of a group's membership? If so, is it also possible for leadership style to have a positive effect on members' participation? The purpose of this project is to determine the relationship between pastoral leadership style and church membership participation and to design a model of leadership style that can enhance membership participation. The project affirmed that style can be a contributing factor to membership participation but there is not one style that will always enhance membership participation. In order to be effective one must know and be able to use different styles for different situations.
