Abstract
  • This project evaluated the impact dramatic sketches as the introduction to sermons by measuring the cognitive retention of content of the sermon immediately after the sermon was presented and then again a week later. The hypothesis was D plus S would be greater than S (D=drama and S=sermon). The results of the study (which included well-defined control and experimental groups, and 1,397 individual surveys) lent confirmation to the positive effect of drama as an effective teaching aid. Results were strongest in the testing of cognitive retention after a one week time lapse following the presentation.
