  • This thesis proposes a direct correlation between the preacher's health in body, mind, and spirit and the effectiveness of preaching. This correlation is explored through lenses of sports medicine, health and wellness, Native American and New Age practices, homiletics, and feminist theology. Exploration of this proposal leads to a conclusion that physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing support effective preaching and cultivate a 'hermeneutic of incarnation' within the community of the congregation; thereby leading to the recommendation that preachers actively pursue practices to integrate body, mind, and spirit as an essential element in supporting and sustaining effectiveness in preaching.
