  • This thesis project asserts that the charism of the prophet is exercised in today's Church through prophetic preaching. Its research developed a definition for prophetic preaching by exploring the writings of the biblical prophets. It also studied the psychological, ecclesial, and cultural factors that encourage or discourage such preaching for today's priest. Through surveys and focus group sessions, the experience of today's Church with prophetic preaching was explored. The final outcome of this research was a resource for preachers which outlined six perspectives on prophetic preaching accompanied by practical considerations for preaching and two sample homilies.
