Abstract
  • This project tests the 'governance mode' of ministry in which a pastor employs the skills, tools, and insights of secular business management to help Saint Luke's Lutheran Church (Washington, NJ) to realize its purpose in the community. As a team effort between pastor and people emerges, the pastor learns more effective ways to lead, assess, and inspire, while the church becomes more alert to mission and seeks to identify and struggle with congregational goals and objectives that previously were vague, uncertain, and without strategies for attainment.
