Abstracto

This project is a critical social history of an association committed to ministry in American universities. The time span of the study is 1930-1983 as the Presbyterian Church USA and the Conference of Church Workers in State Universities are prelude. The 1930-1965 history is told in detail. Post 1965 describes the creation of the National Campus Ministry Association and the Prebyterian Ministries in Higher Education. The study declares that this is not a ministry on the margin, but rather a ministry on the boundary line. Special emphasis is given tot he boundary lines of denominational-ecumenical, clergy-laity, parish-non-parish, and tradition-modernity.
