  • This project is a “pastoral essay” that seeks to make a contribution to ministry by means of reflecting upon biblical texts and theological concepts relating to the implications of the Pauline conception of reconciliation for evangelism among Southern Baptists. The object of this pastoral essay is to make policy recommendations about evangelism based upon this writer’s interpretation of the Pauline conception of reconciliation as a major biblical theme that has significant implications for evangelism. To this end, the paradigm chosen for developing this study moves from the historical to the contemporary theological; from inductive analysis to generalization; from viewing the Pauline letters as circumstantial writings addressed to particular situations to generalizing findings beyond those circumstances; from description (this writer’s understanding of what Paul meant) to prescription (what it can mean for us today).
