- Vatican II broadened the role of bishops and expanded the pastoral activity of the Church. As a result, 'Roman' diocesan structures are being replaced by more collaborative structures. This study uses Noel Tichy's strategic rope model to examine the ramifications of such reorganizations. It asserts that a staff development program must accompany reorganization if resistance is to be overcome and behavior changed. The project links narrative theology to case studies. A program emerges that fosters identity redefinition. The program uses traditional third party cases and the case method proposed by organizational theorist Chris Argyris. It integrates these into a format for theological reflection. The appendices provide detailed planning and implementation directions.
