Abstract
  • The goal of this project was to effect changes in the leadership skills of the author's students at the International Baptist Theological Seminary of Eastern Africa in Arusha, Tanzania. Twenty theological students from five nations in Eastern Africa participated in the training. The author's teaching methods included experiential learning techniques. He administered the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the LIFO Survey to facilitate greater self-understanding. He used evaluation forms and various other instruments to help the participants realize their strengths and weaknesses as leaders. The author concludes that effects on the students' skills were in the cognitive areas of self-awareness and understanding of effective principles and practices of leadership. These cognitive changes may result in behavioral changes.
