Abstrait

The purpose of this project was to equip a selected group of adults in Sebastopol Baptist Church, Sebastopol, Mississippi, to develop a ministry of counseling for persons in grief. The goals of this project were: (1) to lead a selected group to understand the grief process; (2) to assist the selected group to enhance their counseling skills in the grief process; and (3) to enable the selected group to develop a one-year plan to counsel persons in grief. The project methodology included lectures, videotapes and audiotapes, case studies with role-plays, varied visual learning experiences, and cognitive knowledge tested by group game competition. All of the preceding procedures and techniques occurred during the eight training sessions. The qualitative analysis revealed that from the pretest/posttest no significant statistical difference resulted in the selected group members' cognitive knowledge after the eight training sessions.
