How does the 'indigenous' (white) population benefit from and contribute to the mission of a church transitioning to a multiethnic ministry? This project is an ethnographic case study of Oxon Hill United Methodist Church, Maryland, using qualitative research methods with the author as participant observer. He discovered that while multiethnic ministry is not for everyone, those who stay rather than opting for 'white flight' are truly blessed by the experience, bring important gifts to the community, and discover that there is strength and beauty in diversity which is mutually beneficial as parishioners share one another's histories, cultures, and future.
