  • The project was to determine if it is possible to practice Church Growth Movement principles and be true to Wesleyan theology. The study was performed during the period of one Charge Conference year in the Wesley Memorial-Chambersville United Methodist Charge of McKinney, Texas. In a modern application, Wesleyan theology was contextualized through an understanding of evangelism rooted in the thought of Charles G. Finney. In this orientation, converted peoople brought about social change. Emphasis on numerical growth was secondary. Church Growth principles were often incompatible.
