Abstract
  • The theological principle supporting the thesis for lay pastoral care in the Sunday school is that the church is servant. This model of the church comes from the gospel of Mark that presents Jesus as a servant. If we are to fulfill the servant ministry of Jesus in the church, we need to use the laity to reach others. The challenge is to get the congregation to understand the meaning of a servant church. The conclusion of the research revealed a need to revamp the organizational structure of the church. The role of the laity is essential in enhancing Christian growth in the Sunday school.
