  • This dissertation is about the connections between Christian baptism and recovery from addictions through 12-Step programs. The basic idea is that baptism represents a paradigm shift from culture to the Kingdom of God. Addiction is a paradigm -- a world-forming power. Recovery is a paradigm shift also. There are many similarities between the Kingdom of God and recovery paradigms. The method is researched from a Wesleyan quadrilateral approach. The conclusion is that there are grounds for discussion between the church and AA meetings in the basement.
