The purpose of this project was to look at the required committee structure of Vickrey United Methodist Church in Greensboro, North Carolina to identify features of functional and dysfunctional committees in order to help the congregation understand that if their committees are dysfunctional, then Vickrey's effectiveness in its mission and ministry will be reduced. Thru the utilization of the individual evaluation tools of surveys and interviews this study identified eight ways of increasing committee effectiveness through developing a greater cohesiveness within Vickrey's committee structure and nine ways of avoiding committee ineffectiveness by limiting many of Vickrey's current dysfunctional tendencies.
