  • This project addresses the transformation of worship culture and style at Christ Congregational Church-United Church of Christ in Silver Spring, Maryland. Prior to my arrival as Director of Music in July of 2006, worship was characterized by a strong sense of 'performance' of the spoken word and musical liturgy. As we welcome new members and continue to seek ways to live out our covenant to honor and celebrate people of all races, cultures, ages, abilities, sexual orientations and gender identities, our worship must also reflect this acknowledgment of diversity in our community, and must inform our shared experience of the divine in all of our lives. This project and paper detail the beginning of this transformation in our particular faith community.
