The author of this project seeks to establish a positive relationship between the use of spiritual disciplines and Christian spiritual growth. A foundational theological chapter asserts that God is knowable and people are responsible to seek him. Numerous potential benefits and dangers of the disciplines are mentioned. Twelve disciplines are highlighted in outlines including definitions, scriptural support, quotes from spiritual authorities, and practical guidelines. These disciplines include solitude, journaling, silence, fasting, simplicity, and several aspects of Bible study and prayer. A detailed narrative of the project and a review of 124 spiritual sources is also included with evaluative forms.
