  • This work studies the opportunity afforded evangelical and Reformed church leaders through the spiritual disciplines of silence and solitude. The practice of these disciplines removes distractions and emphasizes the immanence and transcendence of God. This encounter positions these leaders to apprehend, without mediation, God's idea of who they are, who they are becoming, and what they are to do in the world. This study demonstrates that the practice of silence and solitude enables Christian leaders to experience God's presence and be affected by that experience with regards to their being, their becoming, and their acts of doing.
