  • This project proposes that a congregation can only be intentional regarding mission and ministry when it can name its cultural context and understand its influence on the church. This premise is illustrated biblically and theologically by sharing the development of early Christianities. The project studied a Third World church that serves as a model for Haymarket Baptist Church, helping it to experience another culture in order to see its own more clearly. This leads to understanding and understanding is the beginning of empowerment whereby the church can be distinctively Christian in its mission and ministries.
