  • The central focus of this work is to seek paradigms for Christian education in the context of the multiracial, multicultural communities of the United States. Insights are provided for local churches, mono- or multicultural, who seek to explore theological and sociological questions about the diversity of the human community. The work of a variety of educators, both in general and Christian education, is discussed, focusing especially on the theories of James A Banks. The work includes an exploration of the ways in which theology is informed by and contributes to multicultural education issues. A local church multicultural education project is described and analyzed. Issues are clarified and tasks defined for persons developing multicultural education in the church.
