Abstract
  • This project first attempts to provide a theological rationale for a daily discipline of silent prayer for laity of mainstream Protestant churches. Second, it describes an eighteen-month spiritual journey with eight lay women and men. The discipline itself consists of three movements: centering, empowering, and serving. A series of questionnaires was used to evaluate whether their commitment to ministry and mission deepened. The results were as enlightening as they were beneficial.
