  • This project integrates theology and pastoral care so that pastoral ministry to young adults might be informed with a particular theological perspective. The project sought through pastoral care, demonstrated in an intentional small group process, to promote theological reflection about meaningful living. The desired effect was to know the fact of one's death to be an impetus for life. This report outlines theological and psychological bases for the concept of anticipatory grief. Methodology entailed determination of issues the participants wanted addressed as well as delineation of the mechanics of the phenomenon of anticipatory grief. The project showed a positive correlation between a constructive sense of anticipatory grief and a sense of meaning for life. Theological reflection and personal address facilitated this correlation.
